I recently reformatted the hard drive and upgraded a Win XP Home Computer to
Win XP Pro. It is connnected through a wireless network with another Win XP
Pro. The 2nd XP Pro is connected directly to two Printers, and I want the
first XP Pro to use those printers also. A check of the properties of both
printers show them as "shared" and I had no problem sharing them when the
first computer was an XP Home.
When trying to add the two printers through the "Add Printer Wizard", I get
to the point where I request that the computer browse to find "shared"
printers on the network. It actually finds them, but ....when I highlight
the printer I want to use, I get an error message that "The printer name is
invalid" and not allowed to use it. This occurs on both printers, so I am
unable to print.
I can't find anything on this in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Does anyone
have any ideas?
