I have a question that I hope someone can advise me on

If let's say i have a network laser printer in my office, and someon
printed a document on it yesterday but left it on the paper tray, i
there a way for me to check which computer in my office was the on
that printed the document

Please advise me. Thanks

Depends on the printer and how it is connected to the network. Is
everyone printing directly to the printer or through a (host-based)
print server? If the latter, then that machine will most likely
maintain a log of job submitted through it.

If your users are printing direct to the printer, then your records
will be limited to the printer's capabilities (and if they are
enabled). Many Xerox printers maintain log files that can be accessed
from the web interface. I recall that Canon's image runners do the
same. On the other hand, the HP EN3700 (JetDirect) external print
server for my home printer does not appear to have such capability.
Maybe its SYSLOG mechanism could be coaxed into being useful for that
but I haven't tried.

I'm using an HP with a built-in print server (K550), and
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/index.html?cat=1&nav=2
(where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the printer's network address) opens a "Job
accounting" report which lists the last 20 jobs.

Martin.
