Hi I have an HP Deskjet 5150...
I am having trouble printing to it from another workstation.
The printer has been setup for sharing...
It appears in the list of network printers available at the remote
workstation where I am trying to print from.
However I am unable to print to it from any application...
Both systems are Win2K with all the patches...
Any recommendations?

What you might try is share the printer without the additional drivers, then
install the Windows 2000 printer driver locally, then
Setting|Printers|"printer"|Properties|Ports|Add Port|Local Port|New Port,
then in the port name specify the complete printer's share name (as shared
on Windows 2000 machine) something like \\Win2000\HP5150 Where
\\Win2000\HP5150 is the full UNC path to the shared printer.

So should I start by removing the existing printer drivers from all
systems?
and then remove the printer as well?

I'd try it once first to see if it works. How many is "all systems"? My
solution is work-aroundish in nature. If it's more than a few then I'd check
the HP support site.

I just did this, though with a different HP printer.

Did you install "just" the drivers in the "other"
systems? This is what I had to do, and when
I added the printer, it found the networked
printer, and installed ok, and am able to print
from ALL PCs.

How do I determine the full UNC path name?
The workgroup is WORKGROUP
The computers name is Pegasus
The printers name is hpdownstairs

By the way.. Connecting to the printer on the remote workstation
allowed me to print...
doh!

By the way its a USB printer and adding a Port stops it from printing...

\\Pegasus\hpdownstairs

Add port on the remote machine only.
