I set up a new print server on a Windows 2000 box as many
users are having printing issues. On the original print
server machine, the printer (installed on the new print
server) is showing up as the default
as: "__PRINTSERVER_HP LaserJet 4050 6/ERIC/Session 2"
even though I did not add the printer. Can someone
explain how this happened?

Do users log in using terminal services?

It doesn't matter what the server (and associated user profile w/that login)
thinks the default printer is. Users can set their own defaults.

.
Yes, some users log in using terminal services but those
that do use and administrator account as opposed to their
individual user account. I'm still unsure how the
default printer changes though.

It shouldn't affect the client's ability to select & save a default printer.
Have you tried deleting/re-adding the printer you wish and making it the
default, on the client's workstation, with them logged in?
