Network Places doesn't show other PC

I have the same problem. Both can connect to the
internet independently and can ping eachother, but the
laptop can't see the desktop. Desktop can see laptop but
can't access it.

I can't access (don't know how?) via \\ip address.

Anyone, please post if you have an answer.
 
Hi Rock,

To access the machine via \\íp, go to start and choose run program (or hit
Windows key-R) then type in double back slash followed by the IP address of
the other machine. You have to make sure you have the NETBEUI protocol
installed. Other than that, I always have this problem. Have for years.
Can't wait to find out exactly how to fix it!
