network permissions

I have four computers running XP, all connected to an
ethernet hub. When we first set it up, everything worked
instantly. We each installed McAfee Personal Firewall
and are now having problems seeing eachother and sharing
files on the network. All our connections are set
to 'obtain IP automatically', I have tried everything
suggested on various websites. One computer connects to
broadband internet through the hub (the cable modem
connects to the hub).

Ultimately, we with to share this internet connection
(internet connection sharing is enabled also) but right
now cannot even share files. Some of the computers
(including the one connected to the internet) do not have
access to the workgroup MSHOME of which all computers are
members.

How can I change the network permissions? We've all
uninstalled the firewall but could it have changed some
of the security settings on our machines?

Help appreciated!

I am not exactly sure how McAfee products work, but it
should still be similar to Norton Internet Security. Look
in the Personal Firewall program, and look for something
regarding networking, or home networking. You'll most
likely have to specify the ip addresses which can access
the computer. You should set it like this 192.168.1.100
to 192.168.1.105 (change as needed for your network ip
address). Close the program, and restart, that should fix
the problem.

McAfee imbeds itself, E-mail McAfee and get the 6 pages
of information it will take to remove this beast from
your OS, you'll do some registry hacking! Or you can just
use System restore on all the machines, and set them back
to the point to where they all worked.
Get rid of the hub and get a router preferably a wireless
router, they are very affordable(Tiger Direct). With a
router you don't have to worry about running an ICS
machine and your internet connection isn't interrupted if
you want to work on the machine that has ICS on it. Also
it's an easy jump from wired to wireless(sitting with
that laptop on the couch in front of the TV).
I have a router, no firewalls, no antvirus software on
any of my ten machines. Did have virus protection on one
for a while and it did catch a bug but since I removed
it, it's been bug free.
