We just upgrade from 98 2nd ed to Win Xp Home.
What happend now, we only able to access internet from XP
safe mode with network.
It just giving out "Page can not be displayed" if we' re
in normal mode.

Talked to Support line for about 3 hrs, and still no
resolution, why and how to dix it.

Anybody have ever seen this kind of problem?

Unless other advice is offered, I suggest you look for spyware (that
would start in normal mode, but not in safe mode). You should get
Spybot S&D, and HijackThis, and advice from SWI Forums. Normal
instructions are here:
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=5187

In your case, I would suggest the following procedure:
1) Download Spybot S&D and HijackThis per the instructions.
2) Install and run Spybot, and update its database. Be sure that it
is not configured to update automatically, and is to save everything
removed (All settings under Settings - Settings). Let it scan, and
fix what it finds.
3) Install and run HijackThis. Save the HJT log for reference.
4) Restart the system, boot into normal mode. If Spybot fixed your
problem, fine, you're done.
5) If the problem is not fixed, run Spybot, then HJT, a second time.
Save the HJT log as a second copy.
6) Restart the system, boot into safe mode. Post your HJT logs to
SWI Forums, per the instructions.

Thank you for your reply, Chuck.

To look for the spyware is the last step that the
microsoft support person suggested to me before I decided
to quit for the day.

But I found the problem (YIPEE!),

Somehow by the time the Win 98 2nd ed upgraded to Win Xp
home, it doesn't register the internet connection
automatically. So I have to run the internet connection
wizard (-_- ;;, Why it runs in safe mode and not in
normal mode? Still a mysteri.).

Now the problem is ... it always forget the setting, so
everytime the computer started up, I always have to run
the internet connection wizard each time. And before
doing this, I have to disable the LAN connection first,
then redo the wizard THEN enable the LAN, before it
connect.

I found someone with similar problem with the subject
thread: "Why cant Windows XP remember my network" in this
forum.

But I can' t delete the connection. So I can' t do the
step that was recommended.

Any sugesstion?

Why can't you delete the connection? Did you try it from Device
Manager? Did you try deleting then rebooting?

Nope, from:

start>control panel>Network & internet connection>Network
connection>LAN or high speed internet>Local Area Network.

That's what they said to do from the other thread.

If I right click on it, the delete choice is not
selectable. Why? Have no idea. ^_^

Is that normal?

I, too, have no Delete selection for "Local Area Connection" from the
Network Connections. If I wanted to remove my connection I would go
into Device Manager, and delete the network device first.

My suspicion about your problem is that it was caused by your upgrade
from Win 9x. When you upgraded, did you download a driver for your
network card, that was specified for Windows XP? That is where I
would start.

At last resort, I would make sure I had my Win 9x install media, then
would do a clean install of Win XP (is your XP an upgrade license or a
complete install license?) (again, download updated device drivers
first).
