network old & new xp computers

I just got a new computer and I want to copy some of My Docs from old
computer to new.
I have them connected via ethernet cable.
I can share folders from new to old (which I don't need to do).
But I can't share folder from old to new.
Error Message:
You might not have permission to use this network resource, contact
administrator (I am admin)
Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
Any help most appreciated.

Log in as the administrator and take ownership of the files from the
security tab, advanced, ownership tab.

I am logged on as administrator,
BUT, I can't find the
"security tab, advanced, ownership tab"
I tried several control panel locations including;
users, network, etc.
Would appreciate further help.

have you disabled Simple File Sharing?

(In Windows Explorer go to Tools-Folder options-View and right at the
bottom.)
 
Normally I have checked
Simple File Sharing
I now have tried it bothways with same result.
i,e, I can access new from old but not old from new.
Same error; file folder not accessible might need permission to use this
resource.
Any other ideas?

But you won't see the Security tab unless you disable Simple File Sharing,
that was my point!
 
I normally have
Simple File Sharing selected, but have now tried both selected and not
selected.
Still same problem;
Can share from new to old (not needed), but can't share from old to new.
Any ideas?

You can do the copying from either direction. If you can access your old
machine from the new one, just grab the files on the old machine and drag
them to the new one. If you can access the new machine from the old one,
grab the file you want, and copy them to a shared file on the new machine.
If this is a one-time thing, it's probably not worth the bother trying to
get it fully functional, as long as you can move the files.
 
on old comouter I was able to copy folder to folder listed as on new
computer,
BUT went to new computer, folder was listed, but message " ... unavailable
...."
