network not working

I have P4 1.7 CPU,2x80gig HDD(raid-mirror)128meg
videocard,512meg DDR ram, XP Pro.M/B Gigabyte GA8-INXP.
Can see my computer in "network places" and no other, the
2 other computers see one another not this one, can plug
laptop in and it sees the 2 other computers not the main
one. Can ping from main computer not to it. changed
network card 3 times (all new) changed cat5 cables.
Nothing works. Tried clean install with all network
connected,nothing? Used the setup wizard and did it
manually, nothing. Any idears.
 
Are the other computers on the network NTFS formatted? if
not that's the ticket there.

If you added the firewall during the network wizard steps, go into Network
Connections. Check the properties of the icon representing your internal
network. You'll probably find the firewall active (why the wizard does
this, I have no idea). Uncheck the box to disable the firewall on the
internal network.
