Network not accessible

Can anyone help me with my home network? I have two
networked computers both running XP Pro. I can set a
HOME workgroup up fine on both. On one though I cannot
see the two computers in the HOME workgroup that I set
up - I get 'HOME not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource'. On the other I
can see the computers but when I select the problem
computer I get 'not accessible'. I can ping both
computers by IP address but not by computer name.

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out!

Ensure the XP's firewall is disabled on local area
networks. It's only intended for direct connections to
the Internet. Uninstall all other firewalls while
troubleshooting.

Graham -- I had a similar problem. After making sure
all of my firewalls were off and downloading the latest &
greatest XP updates, I had to install the IPX/SPX
protocol:
-Open Network Connections
-Select your network and then 'Change settings of this...'
-in Local Area Network Properties, click Install
-Click NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS....Protocol
-In Network Connections, go to 'Advanced' menu - select
Advanced Settings
-On the Adapters and Bindings tab under Connections,
click the LAN
-Under Bindings for Local Area Connection, File and
Printer Sharing, clear the Internet Protocol checkbox

Don't know why, but the network is up and running now.
