network - long time wait

Hi, my home network used to run well and effectively
among three computers via the Linksys router [also
wireless (access point)]. The problem occured about a few
weeks ago. The problem is that when I try to access to a
folder or one of computer names in the Network Places
list, it take a long time to put up the content of one's
folders/files on the current computer I am using. No
matter which computer I use, it occurs on all of them. I
have to wait for like three or five minutes to have the
computer displaying the folders/files contents in the
Network Places window. Even though when I happended to
have to reformat one of my computer and reinstall Win XP
Pro (including all the updates from the Windows Update
site), the problem didn't solve after it. Once the
content is finally appear, I can access to any sub folder
or files right away without any delay. On one of my test
on figuring out what's wrong, the long delay also occur
when I try to access the shared folder on its computer
(loop), not the others. I am getting fed up of waiting
for a long time just to have the folders/files from the
other computers (include the one I am using) to appear in
Network Places window. I am wondering if there is any
remedy for this difficulty? Hope there is one. Thank you

Tim,
Have you applied patch MS02-070 dealing with SMB problems
on XP? If not, take a look at article number 814112 in
the Microsoft Technet Knowledge Base. It deals with slow
access to network shares on XP. I applied this patch to a
customer machine and it was "Hasta La Vista Baby" to the
slow access. Let me know if this patch works.
