Network/Internet Problem

Joel

I have a notebook that all of a sudden I am not able to
get out on the Internet or connect to any of the other PCs
on my network. Has been working just fine in the past.

It is pointing to my Linksys router and the router is the
DHCP server. I can ping the router and the other systems
on the network, but cannot connect or get to the Internet.

About the only thing that I can think is that it could be
tied to a recent update from Microsoft.

Any suggestions.

Hi Joel,

If you can ping your Router and other systems, try ping a public ip address
like 216.138.245.33 or www.yahoo.ca. If request timed out, please logon your
Linksys Router and check connections with your ISP, also call your ISP and
get support.

Well, found the answer. Looked in the event log and saw
that there was a problem binding TCP/IP to the network
adapter. So I remoded TCP/IP from the network protocols
bound to the adapter, rebooted, reinstalled TCP/IP and
rebooted. All is well now.

In the process, I tracked it down to the Windows Update
that I installed concurrent to the problem occured (looked
at the event viewer files.
