Hi,
My network card will not connect to the network.
It just sits there with the light moving back and forth, trying to
connect.
Here is the background:
- I have a 2.5GHz PC with Windows XP
- The network interface was previously working fine.
- I accidentally turned on my firewall in my Shaw security, and that's
seems to be approx. when my network stopped working (but I am not 100%
sure this was the reason).
- I did the following things, one by one to try to get the network to
connect:
1. unload shaw security, next I removed shaw secure completely
2. turned off the windows firewall (note that it would not turn off
the regular way, I had to run services.msc to turn it off)
3. I turned off windows security completely (from services.msc)
4. I tried adjusting setting in properties for the Local Area
Connection, I tried turning off all services except TCP/IP, and varied
other settings as many ways as reasonable.
Also: I know that my network works, because on the same computer I put
in a HDD with Linux and it connects no problem. Then I removed the
HDD, and went back to my HDD with Windows on it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Roger
