I am running Win 2000 pro on a Compaq notebook (Evo N600c
PIIIm 1.2), and my Network ID button (under Networking
Identification tab of the System Properties box) is
disabled (greyed out). I therefore cannot connect to a
network. My NIC is fine (the lights go on), I have Client
for MS Networks and TCP/IP installed, etc. The other
computer on the network can see me, but I can't see them!
Any ideas?

What rights does the account have that you're logging on as?
