The network icon (two small computers with a blue disc in the middle) does
not show up on the information task bar located in the lower right corner.
It was there before I restarted my computer and now I don't know how to get
it back. Can anyone help me?

What happens if you click on 'show hidden icons', the little left
pointing white arrow that's on the Task Tray?

Does it come back if you reboot?

Windows always had a bug that some icons would get hidden if you had a
lot, not to show up again until a reboot.

Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar. Choose Properties. On the
Notification Area tab, under "System icons", check Network (Apply, OK) .

Control Panel > Network Connections >
Right click on " Local Area Connections " icon >
Left click on " Properties " >
Place check mark in box " Show icon in notification area when connected "
Good luck ......................... John.

The first time I tried this I wasn't able to select the Network box or the
volume box. They were printed in a very light shade and I couldn't select
them. I don't know what I did but I was finally able to select the Network
box and the icon was on the system tray. I'm almost afraid to reboot for
fear I won't be able to check those boxes again. I assume this is one of the
many "glitches" with Vista.

Thanks for your help.

Carolyn

There's no way to make this icon appear. Just log off and log in again to make it appear. No need to restart your computer.

That is such a profound statement.

Now what were you referring to?

The OP is posting from this host: NNTP-Posting-Host:
72.29.94.49.static.dimenoc.com 72.29.94.49 - there's an increasing number of
orphaned posts from this host over most of the more common MS groups. I can
only assume that there's a web forum somewhere, but I'm hanged if I can find
it...
