Network Help WinXP and XpHome

Having problems connecting 2 machines. Internet on XP
machine, other is XpHome. Both show good connections in
Network connections page. see good comm lights on hub.
cannot ping either machine from the other. ICS in
disabled on the XpHome machine and enabled automatic on
the XP machine. Have tried both with obtain IP address
atuomatically as well as setting it up with static IP.
any help would be appreciated.
