Hello
A friend in networking is helping me try to get a Dell Inspiron 5150 xp sp2
msie6 on line.
I made a list of the items in device manager around 'network' to see if I
have what i need.
Could you please look it over and let me know if I am missing something so I
can go back to my driver or os discs and try to install it if necessary.

1-Modem - BCM v.92 56 k modem
2-Network adapters - 1394 net adapter
3-and Braodcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller
4-PCMCIA adapters - PCI - 4510 cardbus controller

Nope, all you need now is the wire to connect the PC to the outside world.

1) This is the modem that you will be using if you are getting "dial-
up" Internet access. (Not too popular nowadays since high speed
Internet is available.)

2) This adapter is commonly known as Firewire/iLink and is usually
used to connect to Digital camcorders.

3) This is a standard "Ethernet" network adapter. Usually this is for
connecting the PCs together (with hub / switch / router.) This would
be the "recommended" connection for most high speed Internet. You
require a standard "Ethernet" Cat 5e (or greater) patch cable (usually
supplied with some high speed "modems.')

4) PCMICA is normally used to "expand" laptops by permitting you to
connect a PCMCIA adapter into this "slot." Laptops usually can have
2 slots in total. I do not believe you should consider this "slot"
for your Internet connections.
