I have a Windows 2003 domain with a seperate Windows 2003
member server for File serving. I have been experiencing
intermittent errors on my domain and it doesn't make
sense. All of my 2003 server have the latest service packs
installed. All my PC's have set IP's and log onto the
Domain just fine then all the sudden the drive that is
being shared by the server locks out a station for no
reason. I can still get to the prompt in dos however when
I attempt to access the drive for a dir I get access
denied?? I then try accessing the files through an
application and get an error 46 file access error. I then
attempted to reboot. The PC rebooted and when I attempted
to log on the password for that use was no longer accepted
I looked on the server and no problems found with that
account. To verify it wasn't a network hub... I logged on
as the domain admin and got right on. I then logged off
and tried that user again and it would not let me in no
domain available? Then the machine next to it logged on as
the same user which was working also locked out the drive.
same tests same results. The 3rd PC next to it still with
the same password and username was working the whole time.
We then reset the password on the server back to the same
password and whala it let us in. So we then changed the
password again while they were logged on and it did not
kick them out. So the theory is even if the password file
became corrupt.. then access wouldn't stop. This is
happening at 3 locations intermittenly and has been a
troubleshooting nightmare. Any Ideas anyone?
