When my cable provider loses their network my PC reboots and reports a
recovery.

I believe there may be a setting in XP which reboots when it detects
the network loss, if so can I turn it off as I'm losing work with no
warning.

Thank you for your assistance

check the network settings under services for recovery

start-settings-control panel-computer management

you can check as as many as you think you need to. For the most part
restart the computer is a bad idea.

Did you check the event viewer

Wayne,

Cheers,
I've looked in computer management and can't see anything in the
services about networks that I can tick, I think I'm looking in the
wrong place? I've unticked auto-restart in startup and recovery but
suspect that will just leave me with a blue screen.

I can see the failure in the event viewer but it doesn't tell me
anything, I know it is caused by the cable modem though as I get the
same result if I kick the power out!

Thanks for your help
have a nice new years

Wayne,

Found it thanks,
I've had a look at the recovery options for all of the network related
ones and a few others and they all look like they are set to take no
action.
I'll see what happens next time I get a network failure and I'll know
where to look for information if the system reboots again.

Thank you very much for your help, It's appreciated

Cheers
