G'day All,

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am having problems with my
flash drive(s) trying to get WinXP SP2 to assign them a drive letter. I have
the following local drives a,c,d,e,f and have the following network drives
setup
G,H,J,S,T,Y,Z However the "G" Network drive is coming up in blue all the
others are black. When I disconnect the "G" network drive the Flash drives
work. But this is the apps server drive so nothing else works. Can someone
help please. This all worked fine when I was running W2K SP4.

Cheers

Andrew

What is happening is that the letters assigned to the flash disk are
clashing with those used by network mappings.

You need to go to Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools > Computer Management.

Select Disk Administrator from the lefthand tree, and change the letters
assigned to the flash disks(s). (I suggest Z: backwards)

Either that, or change your network setup to use Z: Y: etc for mapped drives.

G'day Ian,

Why was this never a problem with Win2k then? Nothing else has changed all I
have done is upgrade the O/S

Cheers

Andrew
