I have a small network set up with both computers running
Windows XP. After rebooting and logging back in, the
mapped drives do not reconnect. If I wait for about a
minute after the hard drive stops making noise, I can
reconnect the drives either by double-clicking on each
one, or by running a batch file I wrote that disconnects
and then reconnects each one. It seems that something
that runs at start up is preventing the drives from
mapping, but there is nothing in the startup folder.
Also, if I just log out rather than shutdown or reboot,
this doesn't happen. The computer is not connected to the
internet, but came with a free 90 day subscription to
McAfee or Norton anti-virus online - could the delay be
caused by it trying to reach the internet for this?
