Hello,
I use 1 computer with a cable modem and a router, to
connect my one computer and my playstation2/xbox so they
can both be online. At time, I have the "internet
gateway icon" under my network connections, which my ISP
says should not be there. I have been havig lots of
connection problems, dropped connection, no connection,
then it comes back, etc and Im wondering if my computer
think i have a network set up. How can I tell if my
computer thinks im on a network, how do I fix it if it
does, or does anyone think I have another problem I
havent looked at...I see a couple posts down someone had
a similar problem...I also couldnt get rid of this
internet gateway until i restarted. Do I need UPNP??
Please help!!

Your router is creating the Internet Gateway icon. It lets you
monitor and control the router's operation. I don't think that it has
anything to do with your connection problems, but you can disable the
Internet Gateway by connecting to your router's web interface and
finding the appropriate setting.

Yes, your computer thinks you have a network set up. You do have a
network set up: between your computer and the router.

I recently installed Zonealarm pro, and it seems that is
the time I started having problems...do you think that
could be the cause? how can i tell if its a router/cable
modem problem? ISP said I should never see that internet
gateway thing.
Thanks for the help
