how do you remove older non used networkconnections that stay listed in xp.
My present connection is listed as wireless network connection #4. It seems
each time I upgrade the driver in my wireless card it thinks its new
hardware

Right click on the connection and select "rename".

Just a guess here, but go to Device Manager, then go to the View
menu and click Show Hidden Devices. Then, you can remove the
extraneous entries.

They are probably non-present, not hidden

Type the following commands at a command prompt

set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
devmgmt.msc
