I can no longer see any of my Local Area connections (icons) in the Network
connection window. Device manager shows the adapters as operating properly,
and the drivers are all up to date. I've tried removing and reinstalling the
hardware without any success. Also, I've rebooted several times and refresh
is not bringing them back. Is there any way to get them to show up in the
Network Connections again short of reinstalling the OS?

can you ping other computers? or this step by step troubleshooting may help,

Networking works fine. I can ping other sites and IPs. I just don't see the
connections in my Network Connections window. Without them, changing
properties for these connections has to be done through CMD window and DOS
making it very cumbersome.

have you use net view command line to check the sharing status? what's the error code?
