Network Connections properties missing

Installed XP Pro (SP1) and it seems to connect to the
Internet. The Properties of the LAN Connection shows the
adapter, but shows a big blank here TCP/IP should be
checked, Client for Mocrosoft Networks should be checked,
etc. The Install, Uninstall and Properties buttons are
not there. In addition, the Advanced tab is missing, so
there is no way to enable the firewall. I compared the
installed Windows components with another computer that
works ok and the checked Windows components seem to
match. I've check extensively for viruses and don'tseem
to have one. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

I doubt this KB will help you. Is the General tab totally blank? Nothing
on it at all?

Not sure. If the listbox was empty then I would guess that the registry
config was damaged. However if the buttons are missing to, then I wonder if
he is even getting the right page. A bridged adapter won't show a protocol
list for example, but there is a message explaining that the adapter is
bridged.
