Alex

I am unable to upload any files to my website using ftp programs such as
Cuteftp, PyroBatch or through Dreamweaver - all producing the same results
#500 timeout.

I can get files no problem (and downloaded my entire site following a
re-partitioning of my HD) but no matter what I try I can't get things to go
the other way.

I have made sure I am in passive mode and dissabled all possible firewall
setting. I am running XP through a Netgear DG834 router to an ADSL
broadband connection.

Can anybody suggest what I might have missed or being doing wrong - please.
I am brand new to XP.

Thanks

Duh! The problem might be originating at the other end. Perhaps new
security features have been put into place, and all you have to do is call
your hosting company and ask.

There's something about passive and non-passive sessions that I can't
remember relating to ftp applications. Maybe you if you set the apps to
passive or vice versus?

Thnaks for the tip, but unfortunately that didn't make any difference.

The following is an extract from a log (taken in Passive mode)

After seeing your log file, I can see that the problem is not on your end.
You are successfully connecting to the other computer and able to navigate
the directories. You just can't upload a file and save it there.

As Sinner said, something may have changed at the hosting end. Security may
have changed, or you are using the wrong account (like anonymous) instead of
the one with the authority to upload. Or, there may be no room for any more
files on the host. Try opening a new account at a free hosting service like
Geocities (it allows ftp uploads) and upload a very small file.

Another thing to try, even though you've disabled firewalls, is to eliminate
the router (connect the DSL directly to the PC) and see if it makes a
difference.

Thanks,

I had a period of about an hour this afternoon when I was able to upload but
its fallen over again.

Its not a volume issue as I have 48mb spare and I'm only trying to upload
files of a few kbs.

I am relieved its not an xp issue and convinced now that its is ISP.
Unfortunately I've got another 5 months to run before I can ditch them, but
ditch them I will.

Unfortunately I haven't got enough cable to cut out the router although if
I'm feeling energetic I could disconnect my PC and move it to the phone
port.

Thanks to all for the help and feedback.

TYPE I means this ftp session is interactive?

Since "CWD /html/webcam" is this "STOR" trying to PUT "satctsg1.jpg" into
/html/webcam/html/webcam/satctsg1.jpg?
