I am trying to set up my home computers to share files and folders. I seem
to have failed to connect the two pcs to each other. I get a message that I
should "Contact the administrator of this server to find out about access
permissions". As far as I know, I am the administrator of the network. How
do I find this out and change it if necessary? Thanks.

Maybe this message is just a generic one that is suggesting one of the
countless possibilities in the absence of it being able to deduce the
specific cause.
Maybe you should ask about the difference that was apparent in
Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Local Users and Groups | Lcal
Users.
