Looking for some help or ideas on how to solve a network
connection.
I have a compac with XP and am trying to connect to a
university network from my residence on campus. I have
tried to release and renew my IP but keep getting the
default microsoft address of 169.254.xxx.xxx. My roomates
system works fine, so I plugged his cable into my ethernet
to see if it would work and I still get the same thing.

Any ideas????

Hi Jim,

It sounds like your network card may not be working. Do you have another
that you can install and test?

Thanks,

You sure you don't have to register the network card's
address with the school? That's what I have to do at my
university.
