network connection to active directory

when trying to join a domain I get the following error.....
The following error occurred attempting to join the
domain "domainname". The credentials supplied conflict
with an existing set of credentials. any ideas...thanks

sorry forgot to mention I am running win2k pro and trying
to connect to my domain on a win2k server SBS with active
directory
 
do you have any drives mapped to the same server but with a different user
name? This is usually the cause of the error? Disconnect the drives and
try again.

me...Thanks again Paul...much appreciated...it really
sucks when you know something but draw a blank when it
comes time to fix it...

You might want to make sure the item hasn't already been
created in AD if it has then you need to delete that
account before joining the domain, or it might be that
you need to create that new object before joining the
domain. Hope it helps
