The "Network Connections" folder which is accessible from the start menu is
empty. This is incorrect as the PC has a Local Network connection which is
functioning fine. Since the connections are not visible, the properties
cannot be changed. We need to make some changes. The Network Connection
folder on our other two XP Professional computers works fine. Does anyone
know how to make these connections visible?

Thanks,

Don

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.

Both the Network Connection Service and the Remote Access Connection are
running and set to automatic. However, the Network Connections folder is
still empty.

Then you probably need to try reinstalling your LAN cards.

Reinstalling XP solved the problem.
