Network Client & Boot ROM ????

Could someone please go into detail on the specifics of
a "Network Client", that enables a computer to reach
needed files on a network to start booting. (I THINK) -
And "Boot ROM" which I believe is part of a NIC card that
enables a computer to boot from a remote source.

IS the boot ROM software; does the network client provide
the software for a NIC that does not come with a boot ROM;
Is the boot ROM hardware that is part of the NIC card; If
you have a NIC that has a boot ROM, does that mean that
you don't need the network client; Where do you get the
network client from????????? Stuff like that.

Any useable feedback would be more than welcome. THANX
