hi,

this is really giving me the pains..

Previous:
Win2000 server with Symantec AV server working fine.

Now:
Unistalled Symantec AV server and installed Symantec client. Ran the
scan my computer, no virus infection found. But the network card fails
to work. In device manager the card shows working properly.
Uninstalled and reinstalled again, after windows detected new
hardware. No improvement.
I can ping only 127.0... and not to its own ip (Network address
unreachable).
ipconfig /all says only

Windows 2000 IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : bobby
Primary DNS Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

No mention of its static ip.

The bottom icon is displayed and upon disconnecting the cable shows
appropriate message.

Tried with a different card , same response.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks
Pulokesh

open a command prompt window and type ipconfig. It should show your ip
address as something like 192.168.0.55 or whatever. If it shows an
address of 169.something then you have a card problem or at least the
card is not being seen by your network.
If it has the 192.something then your card and network are not the
problem your firewall is!
