When I move a network card from one slot to another, XP thinks I have
introduced a second card and continues to associate the original slot
with the card that has been moved.
I find that after moving a card and entering the fixed dns address
that I choose to use, xp warns me that I am duplicating the dns
address of 'another' card.
When I try to remove all details of the 'first' card from the
registry, regedit won't allow it.
This is not an operation-stopping condition but it seems perverse of
xp to allow the details of a removed card to take over a slot for all
time.
