network card causes win2k to freeze

I have a dell inspiron 5000e with win2k sp4. I use a
netgear 510 nic and it has started to freeze again
whenever the nic is in the pcmia slot someimes quickly
sometimes after an hour - it also does it with a netgear
511 wireless card. I've unistalled and reinstalled and
used old and new drivers without success. Device manager
says that there are no conflicts but the sysytem continues
to freeze. When this happened earlier this year removing
quicktime seemed to cure it. Any suggestions most
gratefully received.

PS am also using nav 2004
 
I'm having a very similar problem, with a netgear fa311 when I install the
driver the computer locks, if you look at task manager the cpu usage is at
100%. Haven't been able to find a fix or alternet driver yet though.
