Hi all.
A few questions:
1---- Can someone just confirm that it is safe to unplug Cat 5 a network
cable without turning off the system on both notebooks and desktop systems.
2--- I want to build a server that runs Windows 2000 Professional. Once
set-up this system will not have a monitor connected to it. Would I be able
to access the server over the network from Windows XP Pro. If other software
is required, what software could you suggest that is preferably free?
3--- Can Windows 2000 boot and run without a monitor and keyboard attached?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Yup. No problem with that.

TightVNC

No monitor is fine. Keyboard, I'm not sure. If your BIOS has an
option to ignore a missing keyboard, then it might work.

1) Perfectly safe.
2) RealVNC, TightVNC..both free.
3) Yes. You have to set the BIOS to ignore all faults on bootup
(otherwise you get the "No keyboard found. Press f1" to continue.") and
you need ot set up RealVNC as a service to start automatically.

Win2K Server has Terminal Services. Install it from your Win2K install CD.
It will make a floppy disk for installing Terminal Services Client on remote
machines from which you then control the server.
