Hello,

I have setup a simple network consisting of the following:

1 Host system - Win XP Pro 2 NIC's & i Internal Modem

2 Client machines one Win Me & one Win 98

I have enable ICS on my dial up conenction on the host system & have created
a bridge for the 2 Lan Connections

The Host system should be the server and be communicating with the other 2
computers, However after all of the hardware & wires are connected I get no
lights or activity on any of the NIC's on any of the machines. I have ran
the Network Wizard, but everytime I do the 2 Lan connection always say
Network Cable is unplugged. Is there a component that I am missing that
will make wndows send data out on the 2 NIC's and recognize they are
connected to PC's ?

Also, after running the network wizard on the other machines I cannot see or
access the network.

Thank you
Kirk

It sounds like you are connecting directly from host (2 NICs) to clients, no
router / hub.

If so, you should be using cross-over cables, not regular cables.

The following link shows how to identify a cross over cable

I will try that. I had a feeling it might have been
cabling.

Now, I do have a D-Link Router that I would like to use.
Would I need to use a crossover cable so the router will
recognize the connection from my ost computer? (tried a
regular cable which didn't really work)

Thanks
