Network bandwidth

I have 2 servers with 2 gigabit NiC's on each. For backup propose I want to connect this 2 servers with a Cross cable using the Gigabit NIC
How can I ensure that on backup time, the server will transfer backuped data using only the gigabit that is derectly connected with the other server with a Cross cable
In other words, how can I choose what NIC that is installed on the server will transfer data

Create separate IP network for the Gigabit adapters and use IP address
instead of NetBIOS share name or create the aliases in DNS and/or WINS.
Network Monitor can capture and analize a traffic data.
