Hi,

is it possible to connect 2 computers through a usb-cable? I need to
transfer files between these computers. What drivers or programs do I need
and is it possible?

Includes a "special" USB cable for this purpose. Of course, why go through
all this trouble if you have LAN ports (most people do). Just get yourself
a $2 ethernet crossover cable (available almost anywhere fine PC products
are sold :), patch the PC over those ports, and "network" to your heart's
content! Even if you have to buy a couple of PCI ethernet cards and some
cable, it would cost far less than Laplink.

So yeah, you can do it, but it's hard to think of the circumstances under
which this is economically justified, there are just too many other better
ways. Heck, I'd probably install some inexpensive USB wireless (802.11b)
adapters between the PCs (run them in ad-hoc mode) before going the Laplink
route.

If you don't have LAN (NIC) cards/ports there's an e-buyer USB
cable/CD-ROM package here in the UK for £9.18. They work, I've used them
when transferring stuff to or from machines not on our network and with
no NIC

At the US site http://tinyurl.com/2ae8c there's a one for $9.99.

Looks good to me.

Good luck

Sorry! The tiny url goes to the UK e-buyer site - try www.ebuyer.com,
choose "USA" and enter USB cables in the "search" box. Ask to see all
(65?) products - or enter product code - it's 60691.
