network and internet connection

I must restart my xp home laptop to connect to the
internet. Why doesn't it connect the first time I power
up? I am using a wireless connection through a router.
Anyone else have this problem?

If you can still see and swap files with other machines
on your network but can't get to the internet ignore this
reply. I have not had this specific problem but I'm
guessing it is a dhcp addressing issue. Without knowing
how often you shut down your laptop I will venture a
second guess. Try extending your address lease length on
your router.
