Hi
I doubt that there is a valid answer without providing more info about the
Software and the hardware involved.
Otherwise, this page can help in evaluating Windows XP Network status.

Hi
It seems that your Device Manager's Show Hidden components option is On.
Switch it Off and deal only with the hardware Network Cards, leave the
hidden components to be dealt with by the system.
Do you have any regular hardware Network card installed (like Network PCU
card to On Motherboard Network card).

First of all, I don't know what you mean by "performing a Scandisk
check." Scandisk is not available in Windows XP; it has been replaced by
Chkdsk. In either case, however, these utilities check hard drives, and
have nothing to do with network devices.

Passing that however, my experience has been that it is exceedingly
difficult to "fix" whatever situation causes the message "Failed to
uninstall. The device may be required to boot up the computer."

There are two approaches that I have seen work:

1. The error condition was not present until after you installed some
network-related software, such as a "networking package" from an ISP. In
this case, uninstall all such software.

2. Use System Restore or your disk image backup to return the system to
a date prior to the error condition manifesting itself.

If you can't do the above, check the following 2 Google searches. The
first one should be more specific to your situation:
