After installing vista on my pc when I try to connect to the internet I get
an error saying "network adapter not detected". I do not have a driver for
my ethernet card. For XP i just used the default xp driver which was "intel
21140 based pci fast ethernet adapter (generic)" I found this driver in vista
when trying to update my driver. I tried to install it but I got an error
message saying unable to install, and recieved error code 10. So I reverted
back to XP and I could connect to the network again. Could it be that my
ethernet card is not compatable with Vista? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hello atcbrownie,

What NIC did you use? Which vendor, speed and is it a chipset or real card?

Best regards

It is probable that your network adapter (NIC) is not compatible with
Vista. Since a new, compatible NIC can cost under $20 USD, just go buy
another one. If your current NIC is onboard, go into the BIOS and
disable it and then install the new card.

This assumes you have a desktop computer, of course. If you have a
laptop, contact the laptop mftr.'s tech support for drivers.
