Network access...

I know this might not be the correct news group for this particular
question, but it is network related question...

I have my computers here all linked through a router off my cable modem and
have all the drives setup to share files between each other (Win98 and
WinXP), all systems were working fine a while ago, and all of a sudden I
must have ran some sort of Window update and for some reason, I can not
access the files between the systems any longer... if I look at the drives
and folders on each system, they are marked as they were marked before as
"sharing", but why can I not share them now? What am I missing out on, ask
and I will look and tell you what I've got and maybe you can tell me what
I've missed.

Sharing files between computers running Windows 98 and Windows XP will always be
a challenge. First, there's the browser conflict issue:

Then, there's the most common cause of this sort of problem - a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

For more direct help, provide "browstat status" from the Windows XP systems, and
"ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.
