My computer on my workplace seems to have a problem, OS is XP. I can access
the internet view and access the share, on other computer. But when my
colleagues try to access my computer they cannot access. When I try other
computer and ping my own computer it has an error that says "Ping could not
find host( Mycomputer name) Please check the name and try again". But when i
use net view i can see my computer on the list..Does anyone have the idea to
solve the problem? Thanks in advance...

Check your ipconfig settings and look for DNS settings.DNS server must
be the same as on other workstations. So does the ip subnet.
Use the folowing:
ipconfig /all --check sett
ipconfig /flushdns - release dns settings
ipconfig /release - release network adapter settings
ipconfig /renew -renew ip in dhcp
It seem your ip is under different subnet.

I assume that your pc is on domain. If not set them manualy.
When posting you should write details of your system and network
configuration.

hi Tom, sorry for the late reply, but i did exactly as you told me, but i
still encountered the same problem, actually i try to figure out what
happened because everything was okey before, this just happened when i
changed my workgroup this problem arises..my network uses the dhcp
configuration..i checked the ip configuration and compare to with other
configuration all the same...please help me .. Thanks...

Please write down the dns settings and subnet conf and desribe the
ntwork enviroment in your workplace(your settings and other pc).
Does your computers use DNS server and dhcp server in domain or
peer-to-peer?
If domain you must join domain to connect to network resources.
Also you must be on same subnet for ping to work.

Why workgroup change?
Name of workgroup can be different but is not a must.
It is adviseble to change workgroup to a same name as other computers in
network to evade begginers problems.
