Hi, As usual I reinstalled XP Pro on my computer and forgot to see the name
of the Network card to download the drivers. Tipically I could open the box
and find the model of the card, but the computer is far away. My question
is, is there a diagnostic tool to find out what Network card is in the
computer so I can find the driver online? If there is no tool in WinXP, does
anyone know of a 3rd Party Tool that can give me specifics on the card?

Thanks

Everest Free Edition (lavalys.com) can list hardware.

If the hardware has no description, but you have the
vendor and device ID numbers, you can look them up in
the list here.

Paul, just for your information Everest has been discontinued, two years
ago. Yes it will still get information on some systems but on some newer
systems it won't find all the information. Belarc Advisor
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html is the one most recommended now.

The latest version of Everest is available for purchase from Lavalys.com .
If the free one isn't working out, there are other alternatives.

The free one will also return VEN and DEV for devices, which you can
use with the PCI.ids list. So even if old, it can still help. It just
means looking up the items, rather than having them displayed immediately.

Pathfinder, Yes you can purchase for $34.95 for "personal" (valid for one
computer) use and $199.95 for "engineer" use but Paul stated "Everest FREE."
The best current free is Belarc Advisor as I stated.
