Netware 5 supports IP-only networks but Microsoft's
Client Services for Netware installs IPX/SPX by default.
I've never tried to unbind IPX/SPX from a network adapter
or uninstall the protocol with CSNW installed but either
might be worth a try. Unfortunately I don't have a
Netware 5 network handy I can play with to test things.
I'm willing to bet there's someone here that knows a lot
more about this than me, though. Maybe someone else will
chime in.
Sure, the answer is yes. The Microsoft client doesn't work too well, but
if you install the NW5 client it gives you the option to use TCP/IP or
IPX. You can also select TCP/IP and uninstall any IPX that might be
configured. That works best for me on a TCP/IP network.
With NW6, you can throw the NW client out altogether. Hurray!
How? I can't get the Microsoft Netware client to work at
all with Novell SBS 6. Also, how do you get rid of the NW
client, ZenWorks, etc. - this stuff is awful!
