netsky nuisance part II

in an attempt to stem the tide of netsky infected e mails which are filling
my inbox daily i have created message rules to delete any message with an
attachment from the server without downloading it from the server, but IT
DOESN'T WORK because in 'message rules' it says 'apply this rule after the
message arrives'.

what is the point? i want to stop any e mails that have attachments from
reaching my machine. how can i do this?

i have also posted on oe msg group.
 
Holy cow, take it easy.

Take another look at the message rules setup screen - one of the options is
"Do not Download it from the server." You may need to scroll a bit to see
it.

mmm, i've done that but apparently it doesn't know what the message contains
until after it has arrived???????

it still arrives and then norton deletes it and i have to wait ages for them
to arrive before i can get to my real e mail.#

The message has to arrive before any rules can be applied.
There is no feature in OE for the psychic phone line. :o)
 
what about my isp? why can't they block them and delete them at source.
perhaps i should change to lotus notes or similar.

You could install Mailwasher and preview what's on the server without
downloading anything. It's another step, but it remembers who you want
blocked, and it recognizes some spam right off the bat, so it's not so bad.
