Issue 1: If anyone can give me some assistance with a recently occurring
nuisance. Ever since I installed my Leadtek winfast Tv2000 XP Dlx card I've
been having problems with Netscape 7.0 not closing. Oh I can close the
browser or Netscape mail, but usually have to do the ctl-alt-dlt trick to
completion from taskmgr. I'm running Win XP w/sp1, abit nf7-s v1 mb w/bios
1.7, vid card is MSI GF4 440-vtd 8x, dual hdd WD 80g & 40g (each spc ed),
512 mb kingston 2700. Not sure if TV tuner is conflict or just never
noticed the netscape issue before, now use IE6 w/sp1 as primary browser. DX
9 & Win Media 9 also installed. (I know should probably give up on
Netscape, but old habit dying hard)

Issue 2: Sometimes the machine won't turn off when shutdown from start menu.
I can hear the click as though its taking place, but fans still running and
monitor has blank blue screen, so obviously still running. Case is Antec
sx635B II (350 ps), amd 2500+ (barton). Can't even begin to guess on this
one.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Forget about Netscape. Try Mozilla Firebird:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/

It has the same Mozilla core as Netscape, but it's much better.

Hi Randy,

I hope you use the XP Version of Netscape, did you check the netscape web
site for comment about that problem by other users. Because they are
probably a service pack for netscape available.

Now for windows not closing. you have the same bug that Windows 98SE had
with some ATX Motherboard.
Win98SE user had a patch to get in order to solve the shutdown problem.

You are one of the rare user that have that problem with XP. Check the MS
web site, search "windows shutdown patch". One could be available.

Or maybe! Did that message was displayed on some occasion "RPC faillure".
That problem often cause the computer not to shutdown. And that mean that
you have a BLASTER WORM active on your system playing with the RPC of XP.

If it's the case you have to clean your system and get the service pack to
resolve the RPC problem.

Now since you are using an AMD CPU, check the motherboard web site for
update with the bios. That could solve a few problem. You could also check
the video card web site for updated drivers.

And with XP problems. you have to be up to date with all the service pack.

Thanks for the good advice John. Problem not solved yet, but at least you
pointed me in the right direction.
Will, I did download Mozilla, which performs pretty good, a few difficulties
here and there. Netscape will probably bite the dust in the near future.
Thanks guys

Randy
