I have xp on a system that is connected to a dsl router,
and trying to connect to another system that is connected
to a dsl router that using xp, in another city we used the
private IP address of both system ,and can not connect
what are we doing wrong?

how do you get the IP address of the router? is that the
problem??
thanks

OK I'll try to tackle this:
a. Being as how you are behind routers, I am assuming you
are using NAT through your router, which means the IP
address of your computer means absolutely SQUAT to the
remote machine.
b. If you want to use netmeeting from behind routers, you
need to be able to set a static mapping from within your
router, on each computer.
So without knowing anything about your router, or how
competent you are at configuring your router, I would say
the only way you're getting netmeeting to work is by
physically connecting to the internet and giving
yourselves the Ip addresses of your routers and then
connecting to those ip addresses.
Glad I could help - heh.

erpara,
okay that sound good but can I just get the routers IP
address and what about the option in xp that allow you to
use the gateway to connected?
thanks
