Does not seem to work.

Does anybody know of any free programs that makes it possible to remote
control computers with Vista ? (from a pc with Windows XP).

Remote Desktop perhaps. Gee that's what it was called in NM as well. Shared
Applications (Desktop) is now known as Remote assistance.

The Built-in RDP for a Windows only environment, VNC for mixed.
