The system is running Windows 2000 server with SP4 and all other relevant
Microsoft Updates are installed.

The server runs the following services:

File/print
Exchange 2000
-----

Everytime the server is started, the service in service manager "Network
Connections" hangs.
It tries to start the service, and then it makes a timeout with this Event
ID 7000 entry:

----
The Network Connections service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely
fashion.
----

and this Event ID 7011:

----
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the
Netman service.
----

and this DCOM entry with Event ID 10005:

----
DCOM got error "The service did not respond to the start or control request
in a timely fashion. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments
"" in order to run the server:
{BA126AD1-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}
----

I can then try to start the service manually, but it usually hangs and does
not start, but sometimes it starts, and the server works again...

The server is rather new, we tried to install a new network card but that
did not solve the problem.

What could be wrong, since this hang problem occurs every time the server is
started??

Tried it, but the Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service is alreade set
to START Manual, and regedt32.exe shows that the START value is 3.

Have you any other ideas, I'm completely lost here :-)

Regards Martin

Not really. Unless you have some clues as to what was changed/ installed
about the time the issue started.

Sorry - The server did run for 6 months with no problems at all, and
suddenly it failed..

If I start the server, and waits for approx. 15 mins, I can manually start
the service, and the server works again, but after reboot it fails again,
and I have to wait 15min. aso.

I assume a Windows Update did this...

Regards Martin

You'll need to get to the bottom of why 15 minutes.
